My why
Photography isn't just a profession for me; it's a passion of mine that centers around preserving moments that turn into cherished memories.
My family are the whole reason we're here really. It all began with a couple shoot I booked with my then boyfriend Matt, I won't lie, I was really hoping it would end up being an engagement shoot. He totally saw through that and proposed a few months later! Still, that shoot ignited a spark within me for the world of professional photography. Images which ACTUALLY captured how Matt and I were as a couple, without looking staged or forced, that made us look like the best versions of ourselves. I was hooked. What sorcery was this?
Then came the arrival of our first daughter. Parenthood has an uncanny way of unearthing dormant passions, you think if not now - when? So as I held my new baby, I knew I wanted to spend my maternity leave giving photography a good go, and if it didn't work out, well I had some lovely images of my baby's first year and I got to gift precious moments documented in time to other people. But after a lot of sleepless nights (because when she was sleeping, I was working on my business till silly o'clock in the morning), we made it to a point where I could quit the day job and take photography full time!
My Style
My style is natural and candid for the most part. I look to capture key moments, and document people as they are. I just love watching people and looking for those bursts of laughter, or that singular tear that escapes during speeches. The key thing I look to achieve is capturing people's best sides. The image reflects them, and who they are as a person but it's also a flattering image that makes them feel amazing about themselves and see how others perceive them.
When I'm not shooting documentary style (which is about 90% of the time) I'm shooting fun wedding party snaps or romantic couple portraits. This is the only part of the day when I'll be more present in the shot. I pop my little boombox on, we crank up the tunes and get you moving! I like to capture my couples as if they were having an amazing date night, swanning about the venue and having a moment to themselves (except I'm there). That's why you'll see my couples are nearly always looking at each other, I'll direct them a little to get those intimate natural looking shots but for the most part I just let them enjoy their time together and keep them moving.
